One last try before I quit trying to compile. The headers for libart_lpgl and libgnomevfs are in /usr/include. They are not getting found when tracker-search-tool is being compiled; so that portion (and maybe others) of tracker are not producing an object or executable. Does anyone have an idea how to get them found? I tried putting /usr/include in /etc/ld.so.conf.d/ld.so.conf and ran sudo ldconfig, but that did not seem to change anything. After doing this, I also tried fresh source. I then tried removing the configure file and using autoconf. It seems that /usr/include is called oldincudedir in the Makefile. Does this mean that the directory is included in the path for the headers? I'm no expert at compiling, but I have done quite a few--a lot with Bluefish and the kernel. I've not run into this before and google.com/linux has failed me on this. So I'll try once more from the list and if I don't hear anything back, I'll assume that you all are as puzzled as I am. Anita
