Why do you favour a fundamentally different icon to use in menus ?

Arguably that also applies to menu/button images too, unless it can be sufficiently distinguished from the standard form applied to other "find" activities. Without wanting to get too micro-focused about this (no pun intended), the standard tango magnifying glass obscures too much detail of what's behind, making it more difficult to use in a different way. (You need to increase the transparency of its "lense" and related highlight, and depending on context, change the size of the magnifying glass.)

I actually don't think that the tracker search tool (otherwise known as the t-s-t) should stand out as Tracker-branded in the menu. What does the user care anyway? Beagle doesn't brand the menu entry either.

Anyways, people tend to be of various religions in this area and I shall not rant further; I will endorse what ever we end up with :-)

Cheers,
Mikkel
