I've used rygel for a couple of years and I'm currently running
rygel
0.24.3 on fedora 21. Rygel starts but stops being discoverable
after a
while (usually within an hour). It seems rygel itself is running
as a
strace on the process when a media controller is started yields
lots
of output.

Do you have a Windows 7 (or later) PC in your network?

yes

Ok, with Windows 7 in the network there is a weird bug where the file
descriptors of icon and description files downloaded by Windows's UPnP
stack/WMP are leaked because Linux thinks the TCP/IP connection was not
closed or something.

Can you check the
number of
lsof | grep ^rygel | wc -l ?

116 when it appears as not discoverable. After restart of rygel and an
hour of usage I have 114

But in the above case the number of open files is usually much higher.

Do you know the timespan after it stops being discoverable? (1800s
perhaps) ?

I've just tried and this time I run it for 2 hours without any
problem. Strange, it normally goes undiscoverable within an hour or
so.
I'll let it run over night and see what happens

Weird. Is Rygel running on a network interface using DHCP?

Does the time after Rygel stopps being discoverable roughly match up
with the lease time?
