All of a sudden I am having a problem with Rhythmbox. I like to adapt the metadata in the files. Unfortunately, now it seems as if it does not save the metadata properly. I change it, but it does not save it so if I copy or send it to my mp3 player, it has the wrong information on the tracks. I am using Rhythmbox 2.96 in Ubuntu Linux 12.04.
Hi Paul, I sort of remember this problem cropping up a while ago on the list. I think it stemmed from there being copies of the metadata in mp3 files. That is, some files have the metadata stored in more than one way, APE tags, ID3 tags, and even multiple versions of ID3 tags. I think rythmbox prefers id3 v2 tags, which seem to be the newest, and this page seems to have some ideas http://savvyadmin.com/rhythmbox-id3-tag-issues/ If your problems seem to match what comes up in the tests of the beginning and end of the file on that page, it's id3 related, if not, check out if there might be APE tags messing things up. Sorry I don't know a specific fix, but I've never had the problem myself. Best, Matt
