It should be like when pressing some key on the keyboard, and then clicking the song in the playlist will add this song to the queue, and it will be played next.

This feature already exists, if you use the right click of our mouse to click a song the contextual menu appears, then the first option of this menu is exactly what you want. Maybe what is missing is a keybinding to do that.

The queue comes in two modes as pane in the left side of rhythmbox or as a playlist (you can change it with View-> Play Queue as a Side Pane), both have useful behaviors check it out to see which one is the best for you.
