As another rhythmbox user myself, I don't actually think I'd use this
myself.  However, an equalizer has been requested many times on the
mailing list - so there are lots of people who would like this.

There is already feature request/enhancement bugs for this (as well as
lots of duplicates from people who don't search the database before
filing another bug):
