Most of the tools that apply replay gain to MP3 files don't store the
information in tags as happens with other formats, they tend to modify
the global volume level stored in the MP3 header - so it will affect
every player regardless of whether it support replaygain or not.

Recent versions of Rhythmbox have had the replaygain code disabled,
because it was flakey, an no-one has fixed it back up yet.
