The gapless playback/crossfading code is nowhere near ready to be
included in a release.  There are many things I haven't implemented yet,
and it needs a lot more testing.  http://bugs.gnome.org/130426 has the
patch if you'd like to help.

The visualisation plugin isn't ready yet either.  It's much closer, but
I still don't have enough confidence in it for it to go into a release.
I'd like to get this into CVS shortly after the release.
