I have not tried it locally yet.  But also that once a crash occurs,
whenever I restart  rhythmbox , it starts and basically crashes right
away even if I pkill rhythmbox. 
the gstreamer I have is 0.6.4 (debian -testing).  It usually won't start
back till I reboot.  I will try c/p mp3s and play locally on my next
reboot (it's a laptop so I don't mind rebooting often)
