I've had this happen before.  Unlike an application that's legitimately
hung, if I waited a few seconds, rhythmbox would close just fine.  Almost
like it was taking too long and that's what triggered the "this app. blah,
blah, blah" dialogue.  I'd have to find out what actually triggers that
before starting to guess at the actual cause.
