FWIW, I've done some action on this (see last few comments in
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=552387)

I'll likely request some freeze breaks for all this when I'll have made
things more solid (and fixed the big remaining issue: gnome-session not
properly ending the session, which is causing the remaining session
saving bugs).
