OK .. if you have two version for aclcoal: one with correctly suit of aclcoal macros and another without this it can prevent using seme incorrectly installed program versio but .. why we must force using one version which have installed for example some inportand developer ? Why not force using correct version of some program (read this as: correctly installed program) ? :_)

Forcing using automake/aclocal 1.7 probably in this case means in this case "force using correct version" but realy wil mean "force using Linconl correct version" :o) If Lincon will remove automake 1.7 and will install (correctly) some other (for example last) version of automake and still wil not remove buggy another version it will mean we will change autogen.sh ? :_)

IMO conservate some developers buil enviroment bugs in some files independent from this envirement files like autogen.sh scripts it is not correct way :-)
