/etc/environment is not ubuntu specific, it should be read by pam.in case one would ask when it's used, it's loaded and applied during the login procedure/when starting the session.

Hi, when it comes to environment variables, on Ubuntu, I simply put everything into /etc/environment. Not sure whether it's an Ubuntu specific thing, but it works and it's pretty straight-forward. Though, specifically for the ACCESSIBILITY_ENABLED variable, it seems its necessity is, fortunately, vanishing. Just today I installed a VM and I forgot to set this up. But I didn't really notice, I played around with one Electron app and it worked without any problems.
