about modern EFI systems.
on power up modern EFI system builds it's own list of boot entries.
it includes installed systems which is registered in the EFI boot
manager and all storage devices with bootx64.efi or bootia32.efi file
available in /EFI/boot in the ESP.
registered systems usually come first.
so if no other systems will be available, for example on new computer
without OS, or with wiped hard drive, or if files in ESP will be
renamed, it should automaticly boot up from your usb flesh drive if it
is bootable at all.
but you may have problems with secureBoot.
usually systems don't let to change anything secure boot related
programaticly and require user interaction on early boot to confirm the
changes.
