given that I cannot reproduce the problem, I think it is resolved.
Thanks very much !
Jerem :)

I cannot reproduce the bug using your steps either. That said, I just
committed a change to Orca to return early when we get a bogus index.
That should prevent Orca from trying to do any recovery -- which seems
to be what is happening according to your debug.out, and would be
consistent with the commit in Orca you flagged.
Mind pulling master and trying again? Thanks!

hello,
I had not tested it in say all. it works.
however, to reproduce the bug I propose this:
1. open firefox with the page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orca_(assistive_technology)
2. press alt plus tab.
3. repress alt + tab to revert to firefox
now orca no longer reads the content of the wiki with navigation mode
I hadn't realized it before because I often happens on a wiki when I am
already on firefox
debug log:

Thanks Jerem.
I just downloaded 52.9.0 and loaded the Wikipedia page in question. I
am able to read the page with SayAll without problem. Ditto for caret
navigation. Ditto for structural navigation.
Lastly, looking at your debug.out, I don't see any attempts at SayAll,
or any events from Firefox that would trigger a SayAll starting. I do
see you starting Orca and then quitting it. Is this the right
debug.out file?

no, not specifically, however, if it is needed, I can search for the
commit to be defective.
I'll be back later with the number of the commit

Ok, that's fair. Since I don't have Firefox 52.9.0, do you happen to
know what change in Orca it was?

the concern, it is that it worked very well before on this same

I use firefox 52.9.0 primarily, for compatibility extension that
is no
longer compatible with firefox 57 and beyond
thanks !

Thanks for the clarification.
So if things work as expected with Firefox ESR and later, and also
with Chromium, it sounds like there was potentially a bug in
Firefox
52.9.0 which has been fixed a long time ago (by Firefox 60). Is
there
any reason why you cannot use a more recent version of Firefox?

sorry, I forgot to specify that I encounter that with firefox
52.9.0.
with chromium or firefox esr 60 I don't have the bug.
there is nothing to do to reproduce the concern, just open the
page
with
firefox 52.9.0 :)
I hope that" it will be fixed :)
thanks,

Hi Jerem.
Using Firefox Nightly, I'm not seeing this problem. Does it only
happen with Firefox 52.9.0? Are there specific steps for me to
reproduce the problem?
Thanks!

hello,
for some time, I noticed that orca master don't read the wiki
when I
open it with firefox 52.9.0. orca reads the entire page,

wiki, which is given the most important :)
site for exemple:

I don't know too if a debug may be necessary in this case.
