Re: [orca-list] If you are using Mate with Braille please contact me.

Hi John

I find that when I first start the desktop (I tend not to leave one running) orca comes up and does nothing. My workaround has been to use alt-f1 to get to the menu and then pick an application such as firefox. I believe alt-f2 will also work and let you type the name of the app you want. I have not tried going to the terminal which is ctrl-alt-t but that should work as well. I haven't worked hard to find what is happening when ora comes up as I have a workaround that more or less works.

Hi Tom,

It is working partway. I'm still trying to figure out what is going on. It may be a Mate problem, not an
Orca problem. My sighted companions are present only
occasionally, so they can't give much help.

I press t+F7 to get to the deesktop. How would I start an application such as mate-terminal or evolution?

Thanks,
John

Can you give us more specific information? What are you running when it
happens? What are the steps to reproduce it? Can your companions tell if
speech is working to follow it i.e is this a braille problem or an overall
orca problem?

Hello Everyone,

I have just installed the latest version of Orca and Mate. I use Braille only, because I am deaf-blind. An
old problem has resurfaceed. The display jams and
constantly shows the same thing. Nothing I do on the keyboard changes it. I think the screen is following the
keyboard, however, because my sighted companions
have told me that it is.

Thanks,
John
