Awesome, if you can, keep me updated on how your new screencasts go,
and I'll do the same.
I have to do an intro with me saying, "hey me again, here to show you
a quick install of Apex", blah, blah... and I don't want to be waring
headphones then, because it'd be both uncomfortable and simply
wouldn't look good. I will flip over to one ear bud to minimize the
appearance damage there.
I know what you mean by the critics. I got yelled at just because I
snapped my fingers nine times in four and a half minutes, so I can
just imagine what would happen if I published a video where everyone
can hear Orca yelling at them at 100% speed rate, lol. Geez, I
snapped my fingers so much because I don't have the luxury of having
notes infront of me to read off of, and it helped snap my mind back
into place when I got nervous.
Should have first screencast out tonight or tomorrow. Will drop a
reply, and let you know what I learned, if anything.
Thanks again,
Matt

I'm probably about to do something similar for some accessible
gaming-related work I'm doing. Kazam seems fairly accessible, though
once I start recording, I don't know how I'm intended to stop other than
switching to the terminal and pressing Ctrl-C, which I hope won't lose
part of my video. I'm thinking of taking notes on my Orbit Reader and
using them to structure what I say. It looks like I can record both
computer audio and mic input simultaneously, and because my work needs
the computer's audio track, I'll use a headset to minimize sound
leakage. I'll also initially be unapologetic about how rough my work is,
which I hope will get me a break from the critics.
Anyhow, I have no idea how well this will work--it's just my thinking at
the moment.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it. Quick question, any suggestions
on software to use for screencasts? Not sure what OS you're on, but
I'm on Linux Mint / Ubuntu. I have cheese installed, but no
screencast option in there.
Screencasts will just be me in terminal / text editor / Firefox. For
example, first one will just be me doing a quick install of Apex, so
me flipping between the terminal and Firefox while talking.
Yes, I do script it, then memorize the script. That's why I snapped
my fingers so much during the first video -- would help jolt my mind
back to where I was in the script.
No way I'll be able to get someone to do the actions for me while I
narrate. I'm on my own for that one, which is fine.
Alright, so I guess just get some earplugs instead of headphones, turn
the volume down on Orca, and go for it. Thanks!

Hi Matt, I do a lot of that and can help you.
I know it's kind of off-topic but not really given that we are talking
about how Orca can or can't play a role in this entire process.
Firstly, I wish to know if you are writing a script first and then using
it for narration.
I personally don't do that so reading it goes out of question.
Secondlym, what is the type of thing you are screen casting about?
Mine is an accounting/ inventory software and I always have some one to
perform the actions while I narrate what is to be done.
Some times I narrate and do things on myself and Orca is indeed running
at the same time.
I put the ear plugs and listen to Orca on a relatively low volume,
If I have to read output of some thing I take my own time and then tell
a sighted colligue to see how the time window can be contracted.
Is there anything particular you wish to know?

This isn't really an Orca question, but maybe someone on this list has
a good suggestion. I'm starting a Youtube channel, and for example:
https://youtu.be/wGqBFlOjooY
I want the ability to do screencasts, but little uncertain of how to
do that. I'm completely blind, so can't see the screen at all.
Obviously, I need to have some type of headphones on if I'm doing a
screencast so I can hear Orca while I'm running commands. This means
I will sit there with the webcam recording, headphones on, Orca
yelling at me, while I'm trying to talk and explain things.
I don't know, does anyone maybe have a better idea than that? I could
do the screencast, then overlay audio, but that's even a wrose idea
for a blind guy. I don't know, and no idea if there is a workable
solution to this, so just thought I'd ask to see if maybe someone
knows something I don't.
Cheers,
Matt
