Hey José.
Could you please file a bug against Orca in gitlab? Then perhaps either
Samuel or Mike (both CCed) could work on it.
Thanks!

Hi,
I did a test here by connecting a usb keyboard to my laptop. Every time
the keyboard was plugged in or out, the sticky capslock problem would
come back.
A consistent way to reproduce the problem seems to be as follows:
1. Make sure that orca is configured to use capslock key as the orca
modifier.
2. Launch gedit and type some text inside the editor.
3.Make sure the text you typed in step 2 is all lowercase.
4. Press capslock only once and type something else.
5. Again make sure that what you typed in the previous step is in lower
case.
6. Connect an external keyboard to the computer.
7. Type something else using the computer keyboard or the external
keyboard connected in the previous step.
8. Again make sure that what you typed in the previous step is in lower
case.
9. Now press the capslock key once and type something else.
Note that the text you typed in the previous step is in upper case,
indicating that capslock has been turned on.
Since we are using capslock as the orca modifier key, capslock should
only be turned on if pressed twice.
If orca is restarted the problem disappears but if the external keyboard
is disconnected the problem reappears.
I tested several times and the result was always the same.

Unfortunately, I think the problem I have is something entirely
different, as I have no such line in my .bashrc. My problem happens
whenever I disconnect a keyboard and reconnect it, whether that means
unplugging a USB keyboard and plugging it back into the machine or
disconnecting a bluetooth keyboard to use it with another device and
then reconnecting it. In these cases, using the capslock key as the
Orca modifier performs both a capslock toggle and the Orca key combo ,
so I end up typing uppercase at times. Only restarting Orca seems to
fix the problem. So it doesn't appear that my problem is caused by the
same thing, but it does seem to be widespread, as any reconnected
keyboard seems to cause this problem. My guess as to why this problem
seems to be hard to track down is because it only seems to effect
laptop mode, as capslock is only used as the Orca modifier in this
layout.
