[orca-list] installing speakup (etc) in a VirtualBox VM

I've been putting together VirtualBox VMs that start with Ubuntu and add lots
of blind-friendly packages.  For example: emacspeak, espeak-ng, espeak-ng-data,
espeakup, fenrir, mbrola-*, orca, speech-dispatcher, ...

I suspect that I'll be getting into a lot of configuration issues eventually
(pointers and suggestions welcome!), but at the moment I'm just trying to find
out whether I need to install speakup and speakup-doc and how to do so.  Help?

I'd also love some help in understanding how these packages are supposed to fit
together.  If someone is willing to give me the raw information, I'd be happy
to wordsmith it into an overview document.
