Re: [orca-list] Orca talking too much on the Preferences page

Hi.

You're correct.

I never press the SpaceBar to expand the combo box.

But if I press the SpaceBar and use arrows to navigate in the combo, orca works ok.

Hello,

I think it makes a difference whether the spacebar is pressed to expand the combo boxes first.
If you do that, then Orca doesn't read the other item. However, if space is not pressed, then Orca does read
the value of the other combo box.

Does that make sense? At least, this is what I've observed using Orca on my machines.

Thanks,

Brandon

Hey José.

I cannot reproduce this using GNOME 3.32 or GNOME 3.34. If you can reliably reproduce it, please send me a
full debug.out.

Thanks!

Using orca 3.34.0 or orca from master try the following steps:
1. Display the preferences page dialog.
2. Change to the voice page tab.
3. Press tab key until you find the person combo box.
4. Change the value of the combo box and immediately return to the original value.
5.Press shif + tab to go to combo box language.
6. Change the value of this combo.
Expected: Orca should announce the new value of the language combo.
Actual: Orca announces the value of the person combo and the language combo.
The same is true for the speech synthesizer combo box and the voice type combo box.
