Hello,
When I would like to check the number of a line where the cursor stands right now I like to press ctrl+i in gedit. I can just note the number, or change it to a different line number so I can quickly jump to a place of the document I have remembered.
Greetings
Peter
Hi,
I think Emacs is a bit overkill for this. It requires quite large amount of time to get used to that.
However, what surprises me is that there is no GUI text editor in which Orca would be able to read line numbers. I don't blame Orca!
I tried Leafpad, Medit, Gedit, Pluma.
However, you can do it with nano in command line, just add the -l parameter and you are good to go.

Well, the thing is that you can't have Orca run with emacs because the entire system is different.
The point to note here is also that using emacspeak gives all together a different accessibility experience than Orca.
Both are different screen readers for different kinds of systems.
Regards.

Hi Norman! Emacs does not work with Orca but it is completely accessible. You need to install "emacspeak" package. It will make Emacs work with espeak. My mentor, Krishnakant Mane configured it and is a happy user. Here is a blog he wrote about EMacs. https://digitallyfreeblog.wordpress.com/2017/05/22/emacs-the-modern-old-work-horse/ On 06/06/19 3:26 PM, Norman King wrote:Hi.
