Which program are you using to test?

I noticed that if after pressing the space bar you start typing immediately, the orca does not announce that the word is wrong.

Try a small pause after press the space bar to check if orca announces something.

When I was replying this e-mail, everytime I typed something wrong and typed space, the misspelled was announced by orca.

Check the speech tab in orca configuration.

There are an option that control this behavior.
