Re: [orca-list] now trying to get Orca going

Is there anything in your .xsession-errors file?

Hi,
I'm still working on the Pine64 ARM board.
I had Orca going on it once, but I think the chmod 777 I did on the last effort made it so I could not log into the desktop with anything other than a guest session.
Orca worked, but I could not seem to log in as Ubuntu.
I could not get speech in the login screen, but usually ubuntu and enter followed by the same would put me on the desktop.
So I reinstalled, and I can SSH into it from my windows computer, and I get audio through the speaker, I can do:
espeak "hello"
and I get speech.
But I tried going to the board's keyboard, plugged directly into my router, and I cannot get Orca, indeed, I don't know if I am at the desktop.
If I do alt + F2 and backspace, I hear no sound.
the typical alt + super + S does not work as usual for bringing up Orca, and it did on the previous install.
I have tried startx both in the SSH window and at the Pine64 keyboard.
I originally did the chmod 777 so I could copy over a .conf file from windows on the previous installation, but I'd prefer to do that too in the GUI.
If I can get back into the desktop, I can set the WIFI and perhaps VLC or another media server.
Thanks for any ideas.
Glenn
