When I used mate last time I needed to bring up a wi-fi network since I
have no ethernet drop here. In that process in order to choose a
network from available wi-fi choices a series of panels are presented.
In order to access those panels I hit enter on the one I wanted then got
a pass phrase challenge and entered that pass phrase and I was off to
the races. If accessibility was or is missing for other panels in mate
I'd like to know about it.

Thanks! I'm debating whether I want to go with gnome, or mate, mate the
good thing is it's like wait as you said, but weren't there some issues in
the past with the panels not being accessible? I can't remember. I might
actually try that out, of course if I don't like it I can always reinstall
with gnome, and I'm curious, what's the state of KDE, because that's an
option as well. Or should I just not even go that route

Hello Tim,
To have an installer similar to what sighted people have you've to use a
braille display.
The best choices to have accessibility on the desktop are the Mate and
GNOME desktops. If you would like a lightweight desktop you should chose
Mate.
Best regards,
Alex.

Hello there, so I had a couple of question, regarding the Debian
installer, is there a way on Debian 9, to get a graphical installer? I
know that apart boot, like you in order to get the speech support, press
s. But I'm not sure if you want a graphical installer what exactly to
press after that. Also, I'm running into an issue, because by default,
during the install, the Debian desktop environment, xfce, option 9,
which I believe is the print server, and of course standard system
utilities are selected. Should I instead select mate, or gnome, in
addition to say the SSH server, and standard system utility to be
installed? Rather than the default? Because if I leave it at the
default, of course upon reboot I only get the text console login, and
not the graphical login. I tried with option one, and 3, being xfce
selected at one point, but I wasn't sure if xfce has Orca, Etc.
