Re: [orca-list] Implementing accessibility for i3wm

Nope, though Stump looks interesting too. I'm not any good with Lisp either really so I'll sit back and just admire how Stump looks

Has anyone here had any luck with stump3wm? If anyone wants to or needs
to fix that one for accessibility, it will be helpful to be fluent in
lisp since that's what was used to make that window manager.

StormDragon did something like that for Ratpoison, I'm wondering if something
like that could be done for i3. I'll admit I've always been intrigued by i3
and I'm definitely curious how Orca would work with it. To jump back to the
Ratpoison DE, StormDragon managed to get Orca to work with an ultra minimalist
environment, so I'm wondering if something like that could be done for i3WM.
I'm definitely intrigued. I'll admit. I like Mate, but......ya know......I
like choices.

Mate is pretty lightweight. It would be? nice though to have window
managers or DEs use as little RAM and resource as possible so that
applications get that much to use. It is upto personal preference but
always good to have a choice.

Does the Mate desktop is too heavy for you? On my computer, it doesn't

Hello all!

The improved tiling window manager or i3wm as commonly known is a very
minimalistic window manager for GNU/Linux. It is a very good alternative
to conventional DEs that use a lot of resources. Currently i3wm does not
handle accessibility.? Since I use it extensively and would like it to
be available to users of Orca I raised an issue in their github repo.
The developer has show interest. I think the first step should be to
make i3bar, the default panel for i3wm accessible. Since I do not have
much knowledge about ATSPI I request someone from Orca community to
reply to the thread. Kindly find the link to the issue below.
