Hello,
Orca has no notion of HTML elements or other controls such as GTK
widgets it can only look at accessible objects corresponding with those
elements. Retrieving location info is doable I think but may not be
implemented for all apps. I even don't know if orca is currently using
this somewhere.
I only wanted to say my latest experience on this matter. I have always
assumed location info, object coordinates, size and all that stuff is
only marginally usefull to me as a screen reader user.
However a few weeks ago I was asked to create a short power point
presentation at my work place. I have used Microsoft Powerpoint as
packaged with Office 2016 for Office 365 and NVDA 2018.1 to do that
task. And I was surprised how awesome the experience was. NVDA is using
location info about the objects in powerpoint to give a hint if objects
are overlapping, how far from the edge they are positioned. When
combined that with the size information that is presented in the object
properties I was even able to add some screen shots into my presentation
and the overal look was very satisfactory.
So perhaps sometime in the future we might have similar features on
linux as well. However it's important to note orca is only presenting
this info and there might be issues elsewhere too.
Greetings
Peter

Hi,
Does Orca include a way to obtain pixel coordinates for html elements?
If so, how does a user do this? If not, can something be added? I need
something similar to the JAWS ALT+NUMPAD_DELETE function. Sample
output when focused on a character in a link might be 181, 500. 181
pixels from the top edge of the viewport and 500 pixels from the left
edge of the viewport.
Aside from this, how do people creating html/css/bootstrap/javascript
pages ensure proper spacing and alignment?
