Re: [orca-list] orca responses very late in all applications menu.

Hello, Milton!
yes that is good but now please tell me that, this gnome classic will
add it own application like mate desktop? if yes then what are thay?
because when I was removing the mate from my system, few applications
were remain as it is. but now every thing is fine.
what if I want only gnome classic without it's extra applications?
does it consume lot of RAM like gnome latest one?

Hello Didier Spaier!
I have dell laptop with I5 7th generation, 4GB of DDR4 RAM, 1TB of Hard

yah you are right, Gnome takes lot of space on RAM.
I like Gnome wich comes with Ubuntu 18.04 and its applications menu as
well. it's over all interface is also good, I love that.
I have used Mate desktop but simply I don't liked that interface.
but I don't know any thing about GNOME-classic? will you please gide
me? if it is something like Gnome then I would love to try.

BHi Bittukumar,

I am not Didier but for Gnome Classic you can do the following:
1. open a terminal.
2. type
sudo apt install gnome-session-flashback
and press Enter
Type your password, if necessary, and press Enter.

After installing you will find
Gnome Metacity you can choose in the login screen.

After starting Gnome Metacity you can use
Alt+F1 to go to the top left of your screen where you find 2 buttons,
with Arrow left and right you can choose one:
1. Applications
2. Locations.
If you choose a button you can Arrow Down the menu and with Arrow right
you can enter a sub menu.

The Ubuntu menu at the upper right with wifi and System icon you enter
with:
Control+Alt+Tab
You can keep pressing those to toggle Desktop, Taskbar and Ubuntu menu.
After use Arrow Right for exampel to go to the System icon and press
Arrow Down to get into the menu where you will find the Shutdown option.

Success.
Milton

1. Your steps suggest that this only happens in Orca master. Does it
also happen in the stable version of Orca?

2. Did you try restarting gnome-shell (again, this is done with Alt+f2,
then typing r, then pressing return).

Hello,
Orca still response very late after updating the orca master.
steps to reproduce:
1: press super+A
2: use any navigation key or Tab to navigate throughout all
application
hear Orca will response very late, it will not speak any thing except
[windo] then after 10 to 15 S it will announce whereever the focus is.
if I type the name or first few letters of the application that I
want, still it takes time to speak.
I am not able to understan that, what is this issue? is it with Orca
or
Gnome?
Using: Ubuntu 18.04 with Gnome. Orca master [last updated yesterday]
