Re: [orca-list] orca has issues with hogwarts live

You can try installing chromevox. I posted an installation instructions in this list. If you wish, I can send you via email directly.

hi

Your steps are correct, but I'm not getting the instantaneous performance. I will try firefox in safe mode to see if that makes a difference. It could be that ubuntu is using an old version of ff, but I can't see that making too much of a difference. This works just fine on herdOs (windows) with chrome and NVDA, but I can't test on chrome for linux because orca can't read it.

Just tried on my system. Let me know if my steps is correct

  • Open hogwarts live
  • press o to navigate large objects
  • additionally I press Alt+Shift+o to display list of large objects

It works near instantaneously.

Perhaps you would like to try with Firefox in safe mode and see if that helps.

hi all

Ubuntu mate 16.04, orca 3.26. Orca has issues with the website http://www.hogwartslive.com.  It is an accessible harry potter rpg, whic his played in the browser with no software installation needed. It works in firefox, with some issues. You need an account to play, but it doesn't cost anything. However, you should be able to test without one. Pressing o to jump to the text does work, but takes an extraordinarily long time, and even so, navigation is slow. I'm not sure if this can be fixed in orca, but to try to help, I've turned off orca's speaking of a page summary and automatic speaking of text when a page is loaded.

Can anyone else confirm?

Thanks
