Here is what you need to do to fix brltty in ArchLinux.
edit the brltty.conf file which is located in /etc
on about line #591 you need to uncomment the line that reads:
api-parameters Auth=keyfile:/etc/brlapi.key # Require
authentication key
Note, this should be on one line.
Then restart brltty sudo systemctl restart brltty
This should make orca work again.
/etc/brlapi.key must exist, though, and be readable by the user running
orca.

Hi,
Hi Vojtěch
I discvered that I have a problem with Orca whenever I want to use
braille. I am running ARch Linux, Orca from master, Brltty 5.5.
Have you also tried with BRLTTY 5.4 ?
Brltty is running under Systemd. It works because if I switch to textual
console, I can feel braille output. When I am in graphical session, it
always shows "screen not in text mode".
When I enable braille in Orca settings and restart Orca, Orca refuses to
start. It just prints
some-timestamp something seems to hung
Is the xbrlapi daemon running correctly ? Have you tried BRLTTY 5.5 on Debian
for example ?
orca --debug doesn't give any interesting information.
What could be the problem? I guess there is some problem with Orca
talking to brltty, but where?
Orca doesn't change is braille management for a long time so I think the
problem should be in BRLTTY side.
Best regards.
