Re: [orca-list] Orca won't start, probably because trackpad is deactivated

Hi,

Thanks for the info.
So you just install that package and the system can boot?

installing a new os now seems to require a screen at least for the live
dvd part then.
i also figured out with debian testing i have the same issue.
it boots but then when it wants to boot gnome you can hear orca saying
screen reader on but then stops talking.
this is on a installed debian testing which i have installed from the CLI.

greetings,
Simon

Howdy,
You may wanna try the xorg dummy driver. In Arch based distros like
Antergos and Sonar it is called:
xf86-video-dummy
I have this installed on my XU4 and can boot with no screen.

Hi Simon.

If it is the case that the machine will not boot, then there is nothing
I can do about this within Orca.

Hi Joannie,

I have also a strange thing with orca or the whole system not starting.
seems when you have no screen attached the machine doesn't boot.
tried with a bunch of distros.
Fedora, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu Gnome, Paldo, Antergos, Sonar Gnome, etc.

Greetings,
Simon

Hi all. Sending this with Emacs+emacspeak because of this bug. I
disabled my trackpad, FN+F7, so I wouldn't accidentally touch or click
it while using the keyboard and all that. So, I restarted, orca
wouldn't
start, although it doesn't start on the log in screen anyways. I
log in
using the little pops and such the soundcard or pulse makes when it
starts to know when to press enter, type password, enter. I can live
with that, I suppose. Anyways, I log in, and orca still didn't
start. I
press alt+f2, type orca, still nothing. I pressed alt+super+s, still
nothing. So, here's the debug.out file.
