Ubuntu is switching back to GNOME, so the a11y story may be a bit
better.
That said, I'm particularly disappointed in Canonical, but not at
all with Luke, because for all their talk about inclusion,
Canonical could have onboarded more than one accessibility person
and not let go the only one they have (to my knowledge, anyway.)
So often, inclusion rhetoric doesn't seem to include disabled
folks at all. I don't know that Fedora has their own accessibility
team, but at least they haven't spent the last near decade down
their own path, talking of inclusion for everyone but folks
needing accessibility.
That said, Luke, thanks for all your work. I have a bit of
experience trying to champion accessibility in difficult
environments, and know that it can be a thankless job. I, like
others, appreciated and continue to appreciate your efforts.

Hello,
This is a difficult question however here are some
strong assumptions and it would be nice to have these cleared
up...
Is ubuntu effectivelly getting rid of accessibility
support in the upcoming releases given the fact during latest 10
years they are inovating a lot on the unity front and each new
release is not accessible by default unless Luke changes stuff.
Do we have more full time developers working on linux
accessibility besides Joanmarie and Mike Gorse?
I think Alejandro Pinheiro Iglesias and Jacobo
Aragunde do also have a lot of non a11y related work on their
plates.
Would some of us qualify for helping at least little
with this? Are there any open positions?
Are there more people working on linux a11y?
Greetings
Peter

involvement with the Vinux project is unchanged. At least for a
while, I will be able to put more time into working on Speech
Dispatcher, and working on MATE and GNOME accessibility where I
can.
