Hi Joanie.
In the message list of TB if I press capslock+ctrl+u, orca takes about 6 seconds to announce something. I captured a debug file and I am pasting part of the result. vvvvv PROCESS ATSPI_KEY_PRESSED_EVENT: 'U' (30) vvvvv 22:32:48 - HOST_APP: [application | Thunderbird] 22:32:48 - WINDOW: [frame | Inbox - vilmar informal com br - Mozilla Thunderbird] 22:32:48 - LOCATION: [table row | [orca-list] More flat review rewrite goodness: giant-table issues fixed Joanmarie Diggs 0 08/31/2016 05:21 PM] 22:32:48 - CONSUME: True (Script indication) 22:32:48 - TOTAL PROCESSING TIME: 0.0011 ^^^^^ PROCESS ATSPI_KEY_PRESSED_EVENT: 'U' (30) ^^^^^ vvvvv CONSUME ATSPI_KEY_PRESSED_EVENT: 'U' (30) vvvvv 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [list | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:48 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [push button | ] has no size and no children 22:32:49 - INFO: [push button | ] has no size and no children 22:32:49 - INFO: [scroll pane | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [unknown | ] is suspected to be off screen object 22:32:49 - INFO: [panel | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [image | ] has no size and no children 22:32:49 - INFO: [image | ] has no size and no children 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [menu | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - INFO: [tool tip | ] is not showing and visible 22:32:49 - FLAT REVIEW: 1886 on-screen objects found for [frame | Inbox - vilmar informal com br - Mozilla Thunderbird] looking at text: line at 0 is (start=0 end=0): '' line at 0 is (start=0 end=0): '' line at 1 is (start=0 end=0): '' flat_review:getZonesFromText detected garbage from getTextAtOffset for accessible name='jvilmare gmail com is up to date' role'='label': offset used=1, start/end offset returned=(0,0), string='' looking at text: line at 0 is (start=0 end=0): '' line at 0 is (start=0 end=0): '' line at 1 is (start=0 end=0): '' flat_review:getZonesFromText detected garbage from getTextAtOffset for accessible name='Unread: 175' role'='label': offset used=1, start/end offset returned=(0,0), string='' looking at text: line at 0 is (start=0 end=0): '' line at 0 is (start=0 end=0): '' line at 1 is (start=0 end=0): '' flat_review:getZonesFromText detected garbage from getTextAtOffset for accessible name='Total: 376' role'='label': offset used=1, start/end offset returned=(0,0), string='' 22:32:54 - FLAT REVIEW: 1310 zones found for [frame | Inbox - vilmar informal com br - Mozilla Thunderbird] 22:32:54 - FLAT REVIEW: Zones clustered into 232 lines 22:32:54 - FLAT REVIEW: On line 11, zone 5, word 0, char 0 22:32:54 - SPEECH OUTPUT: 'image'[{'rate': 80.0, 'family': {'locale': 'en', 'name': 'default default voice', 'dialect': None}}] 22:32:54 - SPEECH DISPATCHER: Speaking 'image' Orca rate 80.0, pitch 5.0, volume 5.0, language en; SD rate 62, pitch 10, volume 100, language en 22:32:54 - BRAILLE: update review disabled 22:32:54 - TOTAL PROCESSING TIME: 6.4124 ^^^^^ CONSUME ATSPI_KEY_PRESSED_EVENT: 'U' (30) ^^^^^ On 08/31/2016 05:21 PM, Joanmarie Diggs

Hey all. You should know the refrain by now ("I've still got a long way to go, but....") <smiles> I've just merged in some changes which should make invoking flat review in tables much more efficient. Especially in giant tables. My test case was a Thunderbird folder with over 40,000 messages. Before Orca would not respond for a really long time; now it responds in 2 seconds. And I've got other not-yet-merged changes that will make it faster than that. But I hope you'll agree that going from an uber-long time to 2 seconds was worth committing in the meantime. To finish the familiar tune on a familiar note: Please pull master, let me know what you think, and especially if I've broken something.
