Re: [orca-list] Orca reports blank when navigating google docs document

Hello,

I think I can reproduce this all the time.

Originally I had running both firefox stable as well as firefox nightly.
I am starting firefox nightly like this when testing so it won't keep running the stable version
./firefox --no-remote --profile ./profile

Anyway today I've closed all the apps including firefox both stable and nightly.
Then I've restarted gnome-terminal, launched orca like this inside
orca --replace --debug
and started firefox nightly, logged in to Google docs, opened a document and reproduced the issue.

This is my debug.out: http://files.pvagner.tk/debug-2016-03-22-19:38:14.out.zip

Greetings

Peter

Hi Peter.

I cannot reproduce this problem using Orca master and Firefox Nightly.
Is there any chance that when you launched Firefox Nightly, you had a
Firefox stable running in the background somewhere? If you did,
launching Nightly won't actually launch Nightly; it will instead launch
another version of Firefox stable.

If you have verified the above is not the case, please send me a full
debug.out. Thanks!

Hello,

Using Orca from master and Firefox nightly dated 2016-03-20 I can
reproduce this issue too unfortunatelly.

Either there is something to filter out within orca or this is working
differently on linux.

Greetings

Peter

Hey Peter.

I'll take a look later. In the meantime, that sounds like this Gecko
bug, which has just been fixed:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1249253

Can you reproduce the problem using a nightly build of Firefox
(reminder: Be sure to disable multi-process Firefox in Firefox's general
preferences).

Thanks!

Hello,

Can anyone please try to reproduce this?
0) Make sure Orca and Firefox both are running.
1) Go to https://docs.google.com, login with your google account, open a
document and focus the document area.
2) Use all four arrow keys to navigate the document.

Actual results:
orca presents live regions Google docs team has implemented in
place of
accessible rich text editor. However immediately just before that it
attempts to read the content of the control with focus. That control has
no text thus orca reports blank each time pressing an arrow key while
this view is in focus.
When pressing ctrl or shift + arrows orca does not say blank here.

Is there a way to filter this out without breaking something else
please?

Greetings

Peter
