Howdy list,
ok I finished that one. now you can toggle between keyboard layouts.
its called toggle-keyboard-layout.
just install it via the plugin manager. assign a key and have fun.
ahm important note.. its a "advanced" plugin because we have to play
with orca internals. so you have to set the "loadmodule" checkbox while
asign a key (in the window after selecting the plugin for installation).
without that i wont work :).

This is a great idea. I would certainly use it because I use my laptop,
but when I am at home I use full external keyboard.

Howdy,
Perhaps a better solution would be a key combination that can be
used in
either desktop or laptop mode to switch the layout setting in Orca.
I could provide such a functionality via a plugin. So you could switch
the keyboard with an shortcut on the fly.
On a PC i think this would make no sense because not many people have
more than one keyboard at the same time.

This is a feature I've been pondering over for a while. Would it be
possible to add code to orca which would autodetect the type of
computer
you're running on, desktop or laptop, and automatically activate that
keyboard layout?
You can use an external keyboard on a laptop, so even if it's
possible to
detect whether a laptop is being used, it's hard to know what kind of
keyboard
layout is in operation.
Perhaps a better solution would be a key combination that can be used in
either desktop or laptop mode to switch the layout setting in Orca.
You could
then switch to laptop layout without having to use the Orca
configuration
dialogue.
