Re: [orca-list] three features that would be nice to have

Howdy Kendell,

I finshed the volume plugins.
Storm upload it to the pluginrepository so you can install them via the plugin manager.
the new plugins are
getVolume-pulse
getVolume-alsa
just use the correct for your soundsystem and let me know if they are working XD.

cheers chrys

hi
A percentage would be nice. Would it also be possible to find out from
which output device the sound is coming as well? I know pulse audio has
python bindings, but we'd need to be able to support alsa as well and so on.
Thanks

Howdy guys,
a little notice from me :). There are also 2 plugins for SOPS for
reading the Battery state
I made one that reads the batterys via /proc, there state (charign,
full, dischaging) and the percentage of charging.
Storm_dragon made one that reads it via acpi :).
so just check out our plugin repository via the Plugin Manager. Maybe
that could be a solution for someone.
so everything is on the same place as the read clipboard function :).
A fourth would be a keystroke to query the system volume,
kendell, do you just wanna hear a "Tone" for the current loudness or a
percentage? i will do a plugin for you :).

Hi.

I, as always, for the greatest possible number of functions and settings
that would allow each user to use the "Orca" as he needs.

So, I can suggest a method for obtaining information about the charge
laptop batteries, without the use of "Orca":

1. Install the package "acpi". The "sonar", run the following command:

sudo pacman -S acpi

2. Assign to "mate" or "gnome", shortcut keys to a command:

acpi -b | espeak

Now, when you press the key combination you, you will hear the charge
laptop batteries.

Of course, I'm not talking about that, "Orca" this function is not
needed. On the contrary, it would be very useful.

hi all
I'm writing in to request, eventually, three features that I'd like to
see in orca. Two of these already exist in orca natively, one might need
to be added. The first is a default keybinding set for orca's list of
notification messages. I often set this to orca+n, but of course this is
just me. It's incredibly useful to be able to review the notifications
I've gotten from anywhere.

The second is a keyboard shortcut to read the clipboard. Orca can't do
this natively, but chrys has made a plugin, and an
orca-customizations.py file to do this. I don't know if the plugin
support will make it for gnome 3.20, and gnome is in freeze anyway, but
could this possibly make it into orca master at some point? My
suggestion would be orca+c, but again, I'm open to suggestions or
leaving it unbound if that's what everyone wants.

The third is battery status. I think this has been brought up on hear a
few times, and I'm not sure if this is easy or not. How would this work?
Would orca query acpi, if supported, and apm, if not? apm is acpi's
predecessor and hasn't been on computers in over a decade. I'd suggest
orca+b for this, or maybe orca+shift+b, but that's just me. I hope I'm
not being a pest, especially to joanie since I've already asked her to
murge one thing. These features would be nice but I don't think they're
critical, but I wanted to get the request out there whenever she has
time.
A fourth would be a keystroke to query the system volume, but I'll limit
myself to three feature requests at a time, lol. Should I file an rfe
against orca, just to get the request in the bugzilla system? What does
everyone else think? Are these features a good idea?
Thanks
Kendell Clark
