i'll be onist.
I use mate, this is true.
I have never used caja.
reminders on how the older itteration of that file manager in the
gnome2 days functioned *shudder*
why do more people not use pcmanfm?
it is more accepting of directorys with more than alod of files and it
is quick and responcive.
could this be added to the image as an alternative?
now that the mate-panel bug seembs to have been fixed all seembs set
to fire on all silinders.

I am about to start a new course for blind computer users and it is a
job oriented finishing school kind of a course, so I wish to know if

The reason is that many of these blind users will get a machine with 2
or 4 gb ram and I wish that those machines don't give them slow performance.
Mate is very fast and so I am thinking of considering it seriously,
although I am myself using Unity on my 8 gb ram thinkpad.

None taken at all. You've gotten a linux distro working, and that's the
whole point. In the meantime, I'll look at our gnome image  to see if I

Just hit Alt+Super+S and Orca should fire up.

Fedora has no startup sound (like the drums in Ubuntu) so if you
have
no vision at all you won't know when the desktop has booted.

I tend to count to 3 minutes after booting the Fedora USB image
before
doing the Alt+Super+S shortcut, but your own mileage may vary
depending on the speed of your hardware.
(I suspect its ready long before the 3 minutes - but that figure
works
for me so that's what I've stuck with)
