Hi, Joanye.
I do not about this, any opinion. I just do not know if this behavior is
normal for "orca".

Hi Alex, all.
I don't think what you have found is a bug. I think what you have found
is behavior you don't like.
Not all objects have a customized detailed where am I. For those that do
not, a generic default kicks in. This happens to be the case for menus.
So In your first test case:
1) Open Pidgin or Thunderbird or Gnome Terminal (maybe every apps)
2) Press F10
You land on a menu.
3) Do orca+enter, it reads detailed description
It reads the basic where am I information.
4) Do orca+enter (2 time) for detailled "where am I" , it reads short
description
It reads the default/generic detailed where am I information because you
are on a menu and there is no detailed where am I information for menus.
Other objects, of course, do have detailed where am I information
specific to the type. For web content, which includes Thunderbird
messages, the detailed where am I information is the page summary:
Number of links and headings and landmarks, etc. With this in mind:
1) Open Thunderbird
2) Write a message
I assume it lacks headings and links and the like.
3) On a line, press Orca+enter, Orca says "document frame content of line"
That's the basic where am I.
4) On the same line, press Orca+enter (2 times) for detailed "where am
I", Orca stays silent
When there is no page summary, Orca is silent (rather than says "page
has:" followed by nothing.
Could we help Orca team to debug thing something like that ? I'm
available on irc to discuss about that.
There's nothing to debug because there is not a bug here. If, however,
the actual behavior is not what you would like (which is my guess given
that you reported it. <smiles>), then a discussion here on this mailing
list with other users to reach consensus on the "correct" behavior is
called for.
If you all define that, then I will make it so.
