Re: [orca-list] small issues with text selection in firefox

Hey Chrys.

I'm still looking, but to be clear, I didn't mean Orca plugins. I mean
things like gnome-shell extensions, firefox addons, etc. Because looking
at your debug.out, the reason why Orca is speaking the window title is
because something caused the Firefox window to become non-active and
then become active again. So what I'm wondering if you have some thing
in gnome-shell, or firefox, or some other application, that reacts to
clipboard events.

Hi Joanie,

i can reproduce this issue again. to be sure that it is not a plugin or
any stuff in config i removed the ./local/orca folder. so its just a
"plain fresh master" installation (so it _should_ be ;) ).
I attached an debug out:

what i did:
i run orca from the gnome-terminal
switch to firefox
enter locationbar
type heise.de
select a word partiallly "stellen"
press ctrl + c
now orca announce the window title twice.

i also recognized that i have not to do a selection. it always appears
if i press ctrl + c

Hi again Chrys.

While the selection bugs are known, I'm surprised that copying text
causes the window title to be spoken at all, let alone twice. Is there
any chance you are running some sort of clipboard utility that might be
messing with focus or notifications or something along those lines?

Regardless, if you could capture a full debug.out for just one test case
in which Ctrl+C causes window announcement, that would be great. Thanks!

Hi Joanie,

i found a situation where not all selected text is spoken:

1 open firefox and go to
http://www.pro-linux.de/
2. set the cursor before "SSL Login" (in the left navigation pane),
3. press arrow down (so that " SSL Login Noch kein Login? Daten
vergessen?"is selected.
orca announce:
SSL Login Noch kein Login?
orca should announce:
SSL Login Noch kein Login? Daten vergessen?

4, press ctrl + c
orca announce the window title 2 times.

an other case is here:
1. goto
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Erpressungs-Trojaner-Locky-schlaegt-offenbar-koordiniert-zu-3104069.html

2. search the text "Anscheinend schlummerte Locky"
3. mark the text "Anscheinend schlummerte Locky" with shift + arrow rigt
4. press ctrl + c
orca announce the window title here 2 times for me here again but after
orca finished the title orca speak
"Anscheinend schlummerte Locky bereits seit einiger Zeit auf den
Windows-Rechnern selected"
orca should only announce the selected area
"Anscheinend schlummerte Locky"

can you reproduce this? fresh clone from master.

cheers
