[orca-list] suggestion: provide error checking in orca's config files

orca hi all
This has been hovering on the edge of my mind for a while, but has
become important since I've been testing chrys's progress bar support in
orca. If you load an orca config file which contains values orca doesn't
recognize it simply crashes silently, or won't allow you to open the
preferences dialog to change values. I've noticed this when moving
between the version of orca that contains the progress bar t support to
one that does not. Would it be at all possible to provide some kind of
error checking routine? I'm not sure of the exact behavior, perhapse if
the file is corrupt it will display a message to the effect that orca's
settings have been set to the default? I'm no python programmer so I
don't know how easy or hard this would be to implement but it's a
tought. I'd settle for a fix to not being able topen the orca prefs
dialog if the config file contains stuff the running orca doesn't know
how to handle, which will probably meaning ignoring the unknown bits.
Thoughts? This isn't a very high priority feature I don't think, just
something I thought I'd suggest while I was thinking about it.
Thanks
Kendell clark
