Re: [orca-list] gnome-flashback is very good

Yes, it certainly works fine from an accessiblity stand point, and thus is a viable option.
I would like to play devil's advocate as I often do however.
The main reason I greatly prefer and recommend mate over this is the greater configuration flexability out of
the box, i.e. as I've stated before
gnome-tweaktool is required to get at some pretty basic configuration options, and stil leaves one without
the level of control that many users would
prefer.
I also assume that memory and cpu usage are similar to, and probably not lower than with standard gnome
although I've never done side by side testing
where everything else is as equal as possible.
Gnome has it's own strengths of course, so assuming the things I mention above are not of primary importance
to a user gnome flashback may be just the
ticket for her or him.
I guess the most important take away from this in my opinion is that we are indeed in a comparatively good
situation compared with a few years ago, and
of course compared with folks who use one of those other OSs in the sense that we have a few nicely
accessible graphical interfaces, and a few more
options that while missing some important accessiblity are quite usable with relatively trivial
modification/configuration.
I'm still fantasizing about an accessiblity hit squad that could come in and deal with the major remaining
accessiblity issues in those mostly
accessible Desktops, e.g. panels in XFCE and LXDE.
Regards,

Hi,
I am playing with Ubuntu 15.10 gnome beta 2. I did an experiment. I
installed gnome-flashback and gnome-session-flashback and switched to it. I
have a classic old Gnome 2 session and it is perfect, absolutelly perfect. I
get two panels, classic applications menu and metacity, so if you don't want
to install Mate, you can try this.
