Hi,
I am playing with Ubuntu 15.10 gnome beta 2. I did an experiment. I
installed gnome-flashback and gnome-session-flashback and switched to
it. I have a classic old Gnome 2 session and it is perfect, absolutelly
perfect. I get two panels, classic applications menu and metacity, so if
you don't want to install Mate, you can try this.
