Hi kendell,
Try to press the ctrl key before press up/down arrow.
I suspect that the problem described is caused because you have checked
Automatically start speaking a page when it is first loaded and checked
Enable rewind and fast forward in Say All.
Probably I am wrong, but ...
Thanks.

Yup, I did in fact mean thunderbird. It's rather hard to describe. The
best I can do is that when arrowing up and down, orca, instead of
reading just the line, seems to read the entire text from the previous
line up to the beginning of the message. When arrowing down, orca seems
to read the content from that line to the end of the message, instead of
stopping at the line ending. I'll happily send a debug log, since you
said you needed one if it was thunderbird.
Thanks

Hi Kendell.
Since, as you indicated, what you are talking about has absolutely
nothing to do with what I asked, I've adjusted the subject for you.
You say Thunderbird (which is Gecko). But then you talk about yelp
(which is WebKitGtk) and then you mention WebKitGtk and Epiphany. So did
you not mean Thunderbird, but some other mail client which uses
WebKitGtk, like Evolution?
Regardless, I do not need a debug log or further reports on the matter
-- unless you really did mean Thunderbird. Because I know there are
serious problems with WebKitGtk content. That is why I'm in the process
of creating an Orca controlled caret for WebKitGtk content. When there
is something for you to test in this area, I'll of course announce it
here. In the meantime, you can avoid those nasty problems by using
Gecko-based applications.

Agreed, this works fine. However, and this is completely unrelated to
the original message, there are still nasty issues when trying to
navigate messages in thunderbird, I've tested and this also happens in
yelp, which made me think it was a webkit gtk problem, except it
doesn't happen in epiphany. I can capture a debug log if needed.
Thanks

Hey all.
The bad news is that progress bar beeps is not yet committed.
Chrys's patch reminded me that there was some pretty scary and
old progress bar code that I had been meaning to redo. The good
news is that I've just committed that redo which will bring us
closer to having progress bar beeps.
While I keep on working to get us to that point, it would be
helpful if you could test the existing (speech) support as well
as the braille support I just added (which is disabled by
default). Note that because progress bar updates are now speech,
braille, and soon to be beep, those options live on the general
page -- at least for now.
Lastly, you will find settings, a checkbox, and documentation for
the beep. That is there because it was easier for me to just do
it as part of the other work I was doing and because I anticipate
we'll have beeps soon. But the setting and widget currently do
nothing and they are there on purpose.
