Re: [orca-list] any update onf chromium accessibility?

As I said in a post to this conversation on the vinux list a minute ago chrome has always worked better than
chromium with chromevox when chromium
worked at all that is from my experience and all I have read.
I've never tried this flag, but I'm pretty sure you'd just run it like any other, e.g.
in your .desktop file's exec line, or from command line
google-chrome-stable --force-renderer-accessibility
of course change if trying this with chromium, or chrome beta, nightly, etc.
The --enable-speech-dispatcher flag is working again when using chromevox, at least it is on arch and some
other distros, so one no longer has to use a
google TTS. This worked for a few months some time ago, but then speech-dispatcher started chrashing all the
time.
Now you just see a warning about instability, but it is very stable for the moment.
There are strange interactions with speech dispatcher however, i.e. orca's voice changes when chrome starts,
and even when reset will change again the
moment you focus on chrome with chromevox running the enable SD flag and it speaks a word.

Hi List,
you have to run google-chrome witht the
|--force-renderer-accessibility parameter as far as i know to test the

But it seems very limited

If we have to do this and if Google is not wanting to do it, this
implies that we will have to forke it and start working.
Or else make patches to add ATK/ at-spi support and hope that google
accepts it in upstream.

hi
I just tried latest orca master with latest chromium in arch,46.0.209,
and no luck. It's completely blank. According to mails I remember from
this list, joanie says it's not anything she can do, but rather google
needs to add the appropriate at-spi/atk stuff. I remember being told
that when someone attempted to request this, google responded with the
old favorite, windows is more popular and linux isn't so we won't
support it. The ironic thing is that on windows, it's inaccessible as
well, unless you download chromevox. Nvda has some very basic support
for it, but it doesn't work well and I don't think it's actively
maintained. I'd be happy to work to resolve this though, as another
browser is always a good thing
