Re: [orca-list] maybe off topic: using chromium and chromium-chromevox

targeting one browser is against the idea of an open web. We should be sticking to open standards and not requiring one browser.

With regard to Chrome, they probably should be at least recommending
Chromium instead, as it is supposed to be BSD licensed free software.
ChromeVox is supposed to be released under the same license as far as I
know. Some of the most staunch libre advocates such as the people behind
Parabola and the yourfreedom package contend that Chromium isn't
completely free software, but I can't find any problem with it, and
can't seem to find a clear answer wrt any proprietary bits, unless they
refer to the fact that Google has split proprietary bits out of Chrome
to make Chromium, and this may be a reason for some not to use either.
In any case, as far as I know, Chromium itself is free of any Google
proprietarianism, and is therefore free enough for me to feel
comfortable using it. I'm not sure about that Google TTS voice that has
to be used with it though, and would be more comfortable with an
extension that talks directly to Espeak, since Google seems to have
trouble making speech-dispatcher work correctly.
