I think I've figured out what's causing orca not to read the
spreadsheet at first. You have to tab away from and back to the window
after you've pressed alt+control+z to enable screen reader support. It
doesn't fix the lag issues, which I'm puzzled by, but you can at least
work with the spreadsheet.
