So, how different does this synth sound compared to espeak using a klatt variant?
I put klatt voice files in my espeak-data/voices dir on all my Lilnux boxes these days, have for a year or
two, klatt3 being my favorite on most
systems. Of course sound cards and speakers effect which klatt sounds best to a point, and some portable
devices always sound bad using their built in
speakers.

As I recall, the voice that is said to incorporate the speechplayer code
into Espeak is called Edward. I'm not sure where they got the name,
since variants of this should be far easier if it gets folded into
upstream Espeak. On the other hand, I have to wonder why in the world
they felt like reinventing the wheel when all that was needed was a few
bug fixes to Espeak's own Klatt code.
