Re: [orca-list] orca problem on scrolling web sites

Hi again Vojta.

I have a candidate fix, at least for the DuckDuckGo issue, which I am regression testing before committing. However, it will only fix things on pages where what you are navigating in is focusable. The reason why is that there is a bug in Firefox or Gecko in which setting the caret via AtkText doesn't cause the element with that caret to be scrolled into view. The exception is if the caret is set in a focusable element, like a link. This makes sense because if sighted users Tab to a link that's offscreen and that link was not scrolled into view, those users would be extremely surprised. When Mozilla fixes their bug, it should solve anything my fix does not. The Mozilla bug is here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1170242.

Hi,
Try this:
1. open Facebook
2. scroll down using 'h' to move by headings.
3. At one place you will be returned back to top. Try going to the most
bottom heading you can find and use down arrow or for example 'o' key to read further. There is further text but 'h' keeps returning me to the top.
Also I encounter other problem, which is present for longer time.
Sometimes I have to press page down for site to scroll and for Orca to
be able to read it. But this is obviously also broken now.
Best regards,
Vojta
