Seems that Pluma may not have the same problems when editing large
files that Gedit is having, although I haven't tried opening any file
as large as 2MB, so your mileage may vary. That said, I think Pluma is
still using GTK2, so may not be ideal on pure GNOME systems. Still, it
does appear to be much faster on my machine that is running GNOME, so
it may be good to have as an option. Mousepad may be good as well, but
I don't have as much experience with it as I have with Pluma.
