Re: [orca-list] Orca Lag and Libreoffice 5

Hey there,

The following is the debug file you requested.

I openned the same document in other systems, as the only document openned, and I did see lag with Orca.

Hopefully this will help.

For a long time I have not been using Libre office writer, specially for big documents. But if this lag is still present then it is a very unprofessional irritation for a full-time user of Orca with writer.
I use spreadsheet though and the result is fairly good.
Of course I have not used huge files in spreadsheet, but perhaps with 250 records in a sheet I have not found a huge problem.
I am using the default Libre Office that comes with Ubuntu.
happy hacking.

Hey there,

The following was Tested with my system that has 8GB of ram.

I tested Libreofficefresh 5.0.1.2.0 with the latest Orca 3.17.91 Pre.

The lag is still present when I open a couple of documents that are more than 10 pages in length.

IN particular, I am working with a document that has both columned and single text layout pages, usually pages that you would type when typing say a paper, or just jotting down notes.

I opened the document on it's own with no other documents present, and the lag was present. I had to wait for orca to catch up, either ALT+TABBING into other windows, or just stay in the document window until I got feedback. Pressing the arrows, or using control arrow right or left to read words was also silent here. Moreover, selecting text with shift or control+A to select all also provided no feedback, while orca was catching up.

Also, I noticed that the bug I reported on a while back, where the first line of text in a document is still not announced by orca should you press up or down arrow.

If you would like a log, please let me know, and how I can both get a log for you to see, and how to send it.

Thanks,

Alfonzo Cuellar

Hey there, I am experiencing lag with Orca and Libreoffice.

If I open a document, it is fine.

However, once I open more documents, and Alt+Tab back into Libreoffice, Orca seems to lag and I have to wait until it catches up.

These documents are varying in size, so some are four pages, some or complex documents, and some are lengthy up to 10 to 20 pages.

Orca Version - 3.16.2
Libreofficefresh - 5.0.1.0.2

Steps to reproduce.

Open a complex / lengthy document
Alt+Tab into that window with Orca on
Open another document of similar length and or complexity
Alt+Tab back into Libreoffice, Orca lags.

This is what is happening for me.

Is this a bug?
