Re: [orca-list] suggestion. Announce descriptions tied to controls when verbosity is set to verbose

Hi all,

I think that if there is "a lot of crap" that would come up if this was implemented, we might want to leave it alone. High verbosity is tipically used by beginners and they are I believe, already fairly overwhelmed with the amount of stuff they have to process. Adding more verbosity if there is no real value add, is not worth it.

Hey Kendell.

This was done during the 3.13 release cycle as you describe already,
but only for Gecko content. The reason why is that I've discovered a
lot of crap in the accessible description in other apps and toolkits.
But if everyone wants this change, I could certainly make it. Happily,
there's now a new command to toggle spoken verbosity on the fly, so in
the face of crap descriptions, you at least have an escape route.

Anyhoo, I'm curious to know what other people think.

hi all. I just came across an interesting suggestion. If you use
orca's where am I function, if an item such as a button, etc has a
tool tip or a description, orca will announce these. WOuld it be
possible to announce these automatically if orca's verbosity is set
to verbose? YOu wouldn't want it when set to brief but maybe for a
beginner user it might help them figure out what a given item
does. Any thoughts? Thanks Kendell clark
